I conducted a qualitative study through the use of focus group discussion with children, and individual interviews to collect more data. one key finding was a clear distinction between making school places available for urc and ensuring their ability to access such places and do well in school.

Join one of the premier universities in east africa for the fall or spring semester to study and live alongside ugandans and other students from the continent. We design a study abroad program that let our students see the real uganda. my role in the study abroad program is to serve as a course facilitator, to ensure our program is completed smoothly and to handle the logistics on the ground. The data show that some refugee children are far more likely to be learning than others; 65% of somali pupils were able to read, comprehend and divide compared to fewer than 30% of pupils from rwanda, south sudan, burundi, drc and ugandan children in the host community (figure 13). Many of the children who live in the slums can’t afford to go to school. luckily we visited an organization called the twekembe slum project (twekembe.org) and the two schools they support in the slums.
