Construction began on october 1, 2024, and was scheduled to last 13 months, with completion expected in november 2025. however, the project completion date has been extended to december 2025. Work will consist of construction of a 7,878 sf, single story fire station complete with pre engineered structure, foundation, concrete, masonry, metals, exterior finishes, thermal and moisture protection, openings, specialties, fire suppression, interior systems and finishes, mechanical, electrical and plumbing, communications, fire alarm, util. The sioux city fire department celebrated the opening of fire station no. 3 complete with a drive through near third and fairmount streets this summer.
