Uv Textures Not Exporting To Obj Correctly Materials And Textures When i change to display material, the textures display correctly. my problem is though when i export this as an .obj file and import it into another program, it comes out like the first image. The problem is when i export one of my characters as an obj file and then import it back into blender to render, the textures seem to not have been saved with it and the character's surface appears pink when clicking on 'texture solid'.

Uv Textures Not Exporting To Obj Correctly Materials And Textures

Uv Textures Not Exporting To Obj Correctly Materials And Textures Cycles uses a node based material system that is not compatible with most export options. to have a material that can be exported use the blender internal material and texture settings. You need to make sure the texture is kept besides the obj file. also if you import the obj into a new scene, make sure to enable again hardware texturing or the texture will not be displayed. The obj exporter can't read these materials nor find textures used in them if any. set blender internal as active render engine, redefine your materials, and reuse desired textures. In this tutorial, we'll guide you through the process of exporting obj with texture in blender, allowing you to create realistic 3d models with detailed textures and materials.

Obj (or rather mtl, for that matter) only supports very basic material definitions. so, indeed information gets lost on export to obj, which can’t be recreated “out of thin air” when importing it again. The obj export window will let you save out materials. expand it to show all options, then make sure "write uv coordinates", "write surfaces", and "write material library" are ticked, with "collect maps" chosen from the dropdown. Here is the object i apply the texture on. when i export it as .obj file (associated with .mtl) and then import the new .obj file in blender, the texture map is incorrect. Basically, i’m working on a model that originally was imported as an obj file. it brought a material with it, which i redirected the texture of to a new file location, then adjusted the model’s geometry and uvs to accommodate the changes i needed.
